Happy Easter!

Instead of the usual colored tablets and vinegar in a cup way of dying eggs, this year we decided to give Dudley's "Spin an Egg" a try. I'd link to a picture of it on their website, but apparently they don't have one. Just think of spin art, but with eggs.

Griffin tries it out...

Then Grant gets a turn...

It's pretty simple. Put the egg in in the spinner, add a few drops of dye, put the top on and push the button several times.

A finished egg!

All of our pretty eggs...

Stormy Seas

We took a little drive up to Oswego today and of course I had to stop and look at "my" lighthouse. The wind off the lake was fierce. I had pulled over at the little overlook above Wright's Landing and got out to take these (and many, many more) pictures of the waves crashing over the breakwall. Within seconds my fingers were numb, even with my gloves on. The wind was so strong that it almost knocked me over a couple of times. Then we headed over to the loop to check out the lake from there. After experiencing near-frostbite I can hardly believe that Rudy's will be open in the next couple of weeks!

When we got home I was all ready to start working on these in Photoshop, only to find that our power was out, and apparently had been for a couple of hours. The four of us spent the next hour or so trying to figure out what to do that didn't involve electronic devices [I'm shivering at the mere thought] and then National Greed mercifully restored the power.

Still Hanging On

I was wandering around Voorhees Park admiring all of the ice that was coating the trees when I came across this little leaf that seemed unaware that it was supposed to have fallen to the ground last autumn...

Still Hanging On...

Snow fun with the cousins

Yesterday I took the boys out to their cousins' house for a little informal get-together. Food and chatting for the grown-ups, snowmobile rides and other snowy fun for the kids. Of course many pictures were taken, and here are my favorites...

Cousin M., also known as the diva in pink...

Griffin loved being able to play outside after having been really sick all last week...

The "Is It Spring Yet?" Sale!!

OK everyone, we all know that it's cold and snowy outside. But that doesn't mean we should just sit in the house waiting for spring to arrive. We should be out there having fun! Therefore I am running a portrait sale for the month of March to get us all outside. You'll get 20% off of everything - that includes the portrait session fee, prints, portrait packages, preview albums - everything! I'll bring the camera, you bring yourselves dressed up in your coats, boots, hats and mittens. Spend some time building a snowman or sledding down your favorite hill. Or just take a walk and enjoy the scenery. Whether it's in your back yard, at a local park, or some other location (Beaver Lake is a favorite of mine), we'll have a blast and you'll end up with some great portraits. And if you really don't want to brave the cold weather, I'd be more than happy to hold your portrait session indoors at your house or anywhere else!

All you need to do to take advantage of this offer is to call me at 315-592-2356 or email me at jmarriner@twcny.rr.com and book your session before 3/31/08. You'll need a coupon to get the discount - you can either pick one up at Hair We Are in Fulton (ask for Karla) or you can print the one shown below and bring it with you to your portrait session.

Now let's get out there and have some fun in the snow!
