Technical issues

Hey folks, if you are trying to reach my website via "www.jenmarrinerphotography.com" you will be getting an error message for the next 24-48 hours. I'm in the process of changing servers, and that's how long they tell me it will take. You can still get to the site through "www.jenmarriner.com" though. Hopefully this will be the only glitch in this process! If you encounter any other problems geting to the site, please let me know.

Cutie Patootie Alert!!!

This afternoon I spent some time with little Miss Larkin (love that name!!), who is just a few days shy of being one year old. The weather was not cooperating with us, so we had to relocate our portrait session from outside to the front porch and living room. But we still had fun!

Ummm, could she get any cuter??

To celebrate her upcoming birthday, Larkin had a cupcake. She didn't really eat it, she just squeezed it to death and sucked a few crumbs off her hands. :)

Six Pack

I spent this evening with six of the funniest and most fun kids I know. Among the six are three sets of siblings, and they are all cousins. And they were up for anything.

We started off at Greco Family Farm. The nice people there pretty much let us have the run of the place, and we were grateful for their kindness.

They even let us play on the hay wagon!

Later we headed up to Oswego to get some pics by the lake.

The sun was setting and you can see the pretty pink glow on their faces.

I told you they were fun!

I love this silhouette of the boys against the sunset...

Thanks for all of the fun you guys! It may take a little while for your gallery to go up, because I have far too many favorites! :)

The Divine Miss A

Meet Audrey, the beautiful daughter of my dear friend Amy. I have been wanting to get my camera on Audrey for a while now because she is, you know, gorgeous (just like her mother). Amy and I have been talking about having portraits done for some time, and today was just too perfect of a day to pass up.

When we were discussing what kinds of different outfits to wear for the pictures, I suggested something a little dressy, something more casual, and something "fun and funky."

Definitely fun and way funky...

This one is called "Audrey is done with these pictures now." :)

Introducing Ella

Meet sweet little Ella, only six days old and my newest Bundle of Joy baby. I spent this morning photographing her and her parents. She was a good little sleepy girl...

But oh, the indignities we made her suffer. :) Like the big teacup...

...and the ballerina skirt...

...and of course the bookshelf.

But she didn't complain much. I hope her parents enjoy this little preview. Your gallery will be coming soon.

Updates...

Wow, the response to my New Website Sale has been amazing! I have a portrait session booked almost every weekend day this month! Thank you to those of you have booked, and if you haven't you'd better hurry up! :)

I also wanted to let everyone know that my weekday availability is going to be limited now. As you may know, in addition to my beloved photography I also work part-time for the Fulton City School District as a tutor. I work with kids who have been suspended from school or who are out of school for medical reasons, helping them keep up with their schoolwork. Well, the school year has started and we have some "customers" already, so I was called back to work this week, about a month earlier than I thought I would be. So much for all of those projects that I was going to get done around the house while the boys were at school! But I love my job - both of my jobs - and I enjoy keeping busy.

So now I will only be available for evening sessions during the week. If you are looking for a morning session it will have to be on a weekend or on a school holiday (another great thing about my school job - lots of days off!). If you have any questions about my availability for a certain date or time, don't hesitate to ask!

Magen Can't Take it Anymore!

Over the next few days I will be spotlighting some of my recent client work with some cool Animoto videos. This one features Magen and her Senior Style portrait session from a couple of weeks ago. I thought this soundtrack was just too funny...

The Great Website Sale, Part II

Well, I've finished transferring all of my client proofing galleries over to the new website so, as promised, it's time for a sale on everything in those galleries!

Here are the details:

  • The sale runs from today through 9/30/08. Orders will be accepted right up until midnight on the last day.
  • This offer is for all previous Jen Marriner Photography clients. You should have received an email from me with information about the new location of your images, along with a password to access your gallery. If you did not receive this email, please let me know.
  • Here's the good part: It's 20% off all prints! You can get this discount off of every size print, and that includes gallery wraps! Now would be the perfect time to get that gallery wrap that you know you've been wanting! And if you want to try one of my beautiful new fabric-covered albums, complete with twenty 5" x 7" prints of your choice, I'll even add that to the offer. Really, you have to see these albums to understand how beautiful they are.
  • This offer does not apply to any product or service except for those mentioned above.
  • Prior sales are excluded from this offer.

So go check out your new galleries! Don't forget that Christmas is just around the corner, and beautiful prints make great gifts. :)

The Big Yellow Bus

Although yesterday was the first day of school for most kids, Griffin's real first day is today. In our district the Kindergarteners go only for a couple of hours on the first Wednesday, and instead of taking the bus they are driven to school by their parents. Yesterday Griffin and I got to meet his teachers and see his room, and there was an orientation meeting for the parents while the kids spent a little time in their classrooms. Then after a trip through the cafeteria line we got to go home and wait for Grant to finish his day. Griffin likes his teachers, his bestest best friend from preschool is in his class, and in general he seems comfortable with the whole thing. I congratulated myself on getting through the whole process tear-free.

Oh, but today. Today is the real first day. The first day on that big yellow bus. The first day of him trying to find his classroom. The first day that he'll be there for the whole six or so hours. The day that he takes those first steps toward independence. It was not a tear-free day. There were a couple tears early this morning, before Griffin was even up. And a few more after he was on the bus, as I walked back into this big, empty, quiet house. Too quiet. So I've turned on some music and cranked up the volume.

And I'm counting the minutes until 3:30.

Of course there were pictures...

Waiting for the bus.

Such a big first step for my little boy.

Almost to the top...

My Kindergarten Boy

My little baby went off to Kindergarten today. :(

I have more pics, but lack the energy to post them right now. Maybe tomorrow. For now, here is Griffin modeling his new Transformers Bumblebee backpack...

Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day everyone!

I know that the Labor Day holiday is supposed to be celebrating the working kind of labor, but as a mom of two kids the word "labor" will always mean something completely different to me. Today I would like to honor this other kind of "labor day."

So, if you know a woman who is in labor right now and who delivers her baby today, September 1st by 11:59pm, let me know! The first person to email me (jmarriner@twcny.rr.com) with the happy news by the end of the day tomorrow will win the new mom a free newborn portrait session and two free prints (up to 8" x 10"). The only catch is that the portrait session must take place by 9/15/08.

This post had me all nostalgic for my days as a new mom. Here's Grant's hospital pic from almost ten years ago!
