Love the Y Auction Recap

I can't believe I forgot to post about the YMCA auction! My bench went for somewhere around $350.00, I forget the exact amount. That's about how much most of them went for, though there were a few that sold for twice that.

I took tons of pictures of the different benches, and I loved all of the little detaills on them. We have such talented artists in this area!

Some of the benches were beautifully hand-painted...

So whimsical!

I can't even imagine how much time it took to carve out all of these pieces...

A few of the benches were upholstered or had hand-sewn pillows (including one that would have looked spectacular in my living room!)

The seat of this wine-themed one was covered with corks!

In addition to the main auction items, there was a silent auction of small frames and wooden birdhouses...

Love the Y

Attention all fans of this picture of the Oswego lighthouse...

... you can now own this picture, and the bench that it is part of, just by being the highest bidder at the "Love the Y" auction. The auction is being held at the Fulton Polish Home on Friday, June 6th beginning at 6:00PM. All of the auction items have been hand-painted by local artists, and most can be seen here. I attended last year's auction and it was a great time with great food. Tickets are $12.00 pre-sale (available at the Y) and $15.00 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Fulton YMCA.

Here's a little picture of my bench (created with my good friend Amy Johnston, who did all of the painting). The bench is currently on display at the Fulton Savings Bank branch on the west side of Fulton. I'm going to try to get there tomorrow to take some better pictures of it.

I hope to see you local folks at the auction on Friday. Even if you don't bid on anything it's fun to be there for all of the action.

Let's go bowling!

As you may know, finding a cure for breast cancer is a cause that's near and dear to my heart. I have done three of the Breast Cancer 3-Day walks, and have raised over $10,000.00 to help find a cure. So when I was asked to make a donation to an upcoming event to raise money for Race for the Cure, I jumped at the chance.

And now I'm going to ask that you, my loyal readers, support Race for the Cure as well. There will be a Bowl for the Cure event being held tomorrow night, Saturday the 26th, at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton to support Fulton Families for the Cure, our local Race for the Cure team. There are two times to choose from - 5:30pm and 7:30pm. The cost is $10.00 per person and covers two hours of bowling plus pizza and soda. There can be up to six people per lane. And did I mention the door prizes?? Tons of great door prizes! Including what I believe to be the best prize - a free photo session with ME! That's right, a free photo session for up to four people, and it also includes a free 8" x 10" print and two free 5" x 7" prints.

If you are interested, please call Sandy Strauss at 315-729-9595 to reserve your lane. Thank you and have fun tomorrow night!
