A Trip to the Beach, Part III

Today, it's all about feet. I love my kids' feet, and those little piggies had a lot of fun playing in the water and in the sand...

A Trip to the Beach, Part II

Playing in the sand was the most popular activity of the afternoon. Grant made a "sand volcano" and Griffin just enjoyed getting his hands in sand that wasn't part of a sandbox.

A Trip to the Beach, Part I

Yesterday the boys and I made a trip to Southwick Beach, about an hour north of here. Vance and I aren't really "beach people" so this was a rare treat for the kids. Griffin has never been to a beach before, and Grant hasn't been to one since he was 18 months old. They had a blast playing around in the sand and splashing on the shoreline. More pictures to come tomorrow.

Grant ran right to the water and began jumping around, but Griffin was a bit more hesitant.

But the big brother soon convinced the little brother to join in the fun.

Scenes from a Fourth of July

July 4th is not just any old holiday for my family. It is also my grandfather's birthday - this year he celebrated his 87th. So in addition to fireworks and barbecues (and croquet and bocce), we get to have cake and an enjoyable family reunion. Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

We're Going on a Berry Hunt!

Back at Beaver Lake (again!) yesterday, we picked some black raspberries and then had a special treat!

Looking for just the right berries.

The big brother always helps out the little brother.

Put 'em in the cup!

Smoosh the berries...

...and start churning that ice cream!

Getting a bit harder to turn now because...

...it's done!

A tasty reward for all of that hard work!
